ISOOSIchat: Video Marketing

*Video Marketing – the unfair advantage*

The ISOOSI Tuesday Marketing Chat ( #isoosichat  )hangout with special guests +Mark Timberlake and +Scott Scowcroft  joining the regular discussion panel of +Ammon Johns +Bill Slawski and +ISOOSI Research Engine

This week our show focuses on video marketing, and at the ways in which video excels as a medium for marketing to the extent that it almost seems like an unfair advantage.

Our Guests this week are incredibly knowledgeable and talented in this space.

+Scott Scowcroft is famed for giving “The Scott Treatment” – Reviving, Re-packaging and Re-purposing great content with an emphasis on video and HOAs.  Among other clients, he works on doing his thing for Stonetemple’s excellent video/HOA strategy.

+Mark Timberlake of +SME Heroes is very knowledgable in this space.  Not only does he produce a range of video marketing production services for clients, he also experiments extensively with what can be done on a given platform.

This week’s panel will be discussing the power of video for marketing in all its aspects.  Obviously we are fans, as the weekly shows prove.  But there’s a lot more to video marketing than just hangouts and live streaming.

For one thing, YouTube has a massive user-base, and a search traffic all of its own, which you are not able to tap at all without some kind of video offering.  Unlike other search engines, people searching on YouTube often continue to browse through results for a long time, and not only choose one answer to their search.

Google also tries to offer diverse media in every search result, meaning that some video or other is almost always in the first page of search results, but often selected from a much, much smaller pool of related content.

Then there’s the fact that video is one of the best forms of cross-platform content for social network platforms.  There is absolutely no better way to get a complex message onto twitter, for instance, given the character limits.  But remember also that while you have to vary the length of snippets for each platform, almost all allow a youtube video to be embedded right into the stream.  Its the one post that can work exactly the same on Facebook, Twitter, and G+ too.

Even in the small details, video offers some great advantages.  With watermarking, lower-third graphical overlays, and similar in-picture branding, it is a lot harder for someone to simply copy and paste your work as their own.

In the course of the show, we’ll discuss what sort of investment is needed for professional looking video, how to determine the right kind of video content for your needs, and many insights into how to maximize the results of video marketing.
